Active Week of Weather... February Numbers

Our stormy Tue. remains on track as a potent storm system moves into the
area from the west. A few widely scattered strong storms will be possible
as early as late morning through the lunch hour followed by a strong squall
line of storms that will sweep rapidly from west to east. An isolated
tornado will be possible -- especially with isolated cells ahead of the line
as well as with small circulations that might develop within the line. But
the primary hazard looks to be strong, potentially damaging wind gusts. The
storms should exit the area from west to east late in the afternoon/early in
the evening.
Focus then shifts to the next storm which will follow quickly on the heals
of Tuesday's storm bringing widespread, potentially heavy rainfall to the
First Coast later Thursday night through Fri. This storm will be followed
by a pretty strong shot of cold air with below avg. temps. likely for the
weekend including the possibility of an inland freeze in some spots.

The #'s are in for Feb. in Jax:
Avg. High: 71.2 degrees...avg. low: 44.0 degrees...avg: 57.6 degrees which
was 1.8 degrees above avg. That leaves the winter months of Dec., Jan. &
Feb. above avg. even though Jan. temps. were slightly below avg.
Rainfall was a hefty 5.22" -- 2.07" above avg. Other rainfall amounts for
