Changeable Weekend Weather... Wilkins Ice Shelf... JaxParks -- Get Out There!

Our weather is pretty "cut & dry" into Sat. but some pretty abrupt changes will follow.  Thu. through Sat. will feature warmer temps., some nighttime fog & plenty of sun.  Afternoon temps. will top out in the mid to upper 70s Thu. & near 80 Fri. & Sat. though a little cooler at the beaches each afternoon as the sea breeze becomes established.  The change arrives Sat. night in the form of strong high pressure moving through New England & offshore into the Northwest Atlantic.  This will produce a strong onshore east to northeast wind.  The result for the First Coast:
-- much cooler temps. with daytime highs struggling to get out of the 60s at & near the coast Sun.-Mon.
-- brisk winds sustained at 15-20 mph but gusts of 25+ mph
-- building seas & surf
-- dangerous rip currents
-- a few showers, especially near the coast & inland about 20-25 miles.

Word coming out about the disintegration of Antarctica's Wilkins Ice Shelf due to global warming.  A large chunk of ice has quite literally fallen off.  Click here for the story.

This weekend: JaxParks...Get Out There!  CBS47 & FOX30 or the proud media sponsors for the 2nd yr. in a row.  Jacksonville is home to one of the largest public park systems in the country.  This weekend is an attempt to showcase those parks & bring to light what's considered a Jax "hidden gem".  I'll be at Walter Jones Historical Park in Mandadrin Sat., March 29th at 11am.  See what's going on at our Jax Parks by clicking here.
