Fri. will be a beautiful day, but the weekend will feature 2 days of contrast thanks to a cool front sliding down the East Coast. The front will approach Jacksonville by late afternoon triggering a few showers followed by a surge of northeast winds that will bring cooler temps. from Jax Beach north to Brunswick late in the afternoon. The entire area will be under strong east to northeast winds Sun. with a few showers -- especially near the coast & I-95 corridor -- & much cooler temps.
I posted y'day an article regarding a piece of Antarctica's ice shelf that's fallen into the sea. Some interesting dialogue has resulted. You must remember this (global warming) is not a "cut & dry" issue. Scientists don't know all the answers...climatic models don't know all the answers...an alarmist approach is far more than inconvenient...and, yes, we can measure that the Earth is warming at the moment, but our planet has warmed before (& cooled). My concern with the global warming debate really lies with what the public knows & how they get their info....one-sided views...& those with a certain agenda with no "wiggle" room. If you've been reading this post since its inception, you've seen me try to present both sides. So in that spirit, a viewer has sent a link to me regarding Antarctica's ice shelf -- click here.
Winter just doesn't want to give up the fight in the good ol' midwest. My dad sent me the photo below from Toledo, Iowa as heavy snow fell during the day Thu. The snowfall broke the record for snow in a season in Dubuque. From the Quad Cities N.W.S.: 0659 PM SNOW DUBUQUE 42.50N 90.69W

I had the honor Thu. of being the emcee for the Clay Co. Salvation Army appreciation breakfast. The Salvation Army is literally an army of volunteers & modestly paid employees who work to serve & help people from all sorts of walks of life. If you happen to be looking for a nonprofit that's "Doing the Most Good", I encourage you...implore you....to turn to the Salvation Army. Photos below are from the breakfast. In the first photo, the gentleman on the right is Lt. Colonel Tom Jones, Salvation Army -- Florida Division; Colonel Jones is an incredibly articulate & empowering speaker with a nice touch of humor. The 2nd photo is a presentation to me -- a slinky to help forecast the weather(!)....& a very nice piece of crystal.
