Clara’s at the Cathedral. A collaboration between the Clara White Mission and St. John’s Cathedral, the restaurant will be operated by students of The Clara White Mission School of Culinary Arts.
Located inside St. John’s Taliaferro Hall, Clara’s will be open to the public each Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the culinary school, a vocational training program that prepares students for a career in the hospitality industry.
"To see this dream become a reality is not only thrilling for me, but for downtown Jacksonville and all the lives this partnership will touch," said The Reverend Edward Harrison, Dean of St. John’s. "The Clara White Mission has made tremendous strides over the years in restoring the lives of hundreds of homeless individuals by tapping into their enormous talents in the culinary fields. By joining together, our new venture will help these individuals showcase their gifts to Jacksonville."
"Our multifaceted homeless services are designed to transition our students and graduates into independence in a service-learning environment" said Ju’Coby Pittman, CEO/President of the Clara White Mission. "Our seamless continuum will generate qualified employees for Jacksonville’s workforce in the hospitality industry. This initiative with St. John’s Cathedral will allow real people with real issues an opportunity to begin experiencing the quality of life of a new chance, a new choice and hope."
Clara’s at the Cathedral will feature an upscale menu and a relaxed dining experience within historic St. Johns Cathedral, located at 256 East Church Street in downtown Jacksonville at Duval and Market Streets.
VIP events will be held on Friday, March 23, and Friday, March 30. The restaurant will officially open to the public on Friday, April 13. For more information on Clara’s at the Cathedral, call (904) 354-4162. For additional details on the Clara White Mission, visit
