World Golf Village to Offer Complimentary Golf Instruction During Play Golf America Day May 24

Slammer & Squire, an official golf course of the World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village, will host "Play Golf America Day" on Saturday, May 24 from 1 to 5 p.m., offering golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to receive complimentary professional instruction.

Now in its third year at Slammer & Squire, "Play Golf America Day" is an opportunity for golfers of all skill levels to receive free expert instruction. The event targets beginner golfers interested in taking up the game, existing golfers looking to fine-tune their skills, or players who have taken a break and are looking to be re-introduced to the game.

"This third ‘Play Golf America Day’ at our course is one that allows golfers of any skill level the opportunity to learn the game while having fun in a casual and approachable setting," said Cathy Harbin, General Manager of the Slammer & Squire and the King & Bear at World Golf Village. "We hope to see many individuals who are interested in the game partake in and benefit from the day’s complimentary activities."

InstructorsPGA Professionals from the North Florida Sectionwill give 10-minute tune-ups and provide demonstrations on all aspects of the game from 1 to 5 p.m. on the Slammer & Squire driving range. A closest-to-the-pin contest will take place at 1 p.m.; a putting contest will take place at 2 p.m. and a "Beat the Pro" long-drive contest for a $250 cash prize will begin at 4 p.m. Bunker, chipping and putting clinics will begin at 1:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be a trick shot exhibition by Peter Johncke, "The Trick Shot Master," at 3 p.m.

All "Play Golf America Day" activities will be complimentary. Additionally, sodas and hot dogs will be available free of charge throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded to the contest winners and guests will be able to test the equipment from a variety of brands in a demo area.
